It recapitulates the ornamental garden of Count Wratislaw of Mitrowitz from the late 1820s that his son incorporated into a vast English park shortly afterwards. It deals in detail with the 1880s when Knight Karel Nadherny of Borutin bought the castle and transformed its surroundings based on the style of the time and his ideas. The last part focuses on the 1920s and 1930s when the brother and sister Sidonie and Karel Nadherny imparted an original look to the castle park. They followed the advice of the botanist Camillo Schneider and the connoisseur of alpine plants Herbert Schaffgotsch. Many authors described the historical transformation of the Vrchotovy Janovice park, and the article summarises their knowledge and expands it with information from newly discovered iconographic sources (maps, plans, sketches, and photographs).
