AB The article expands on the recently published study by the first of the authors of this article dealing with the interpretation of masons' marks found on the portals of the Beroun town gates. The presented results of petrographic research revealed that stone for the Beroun town gates was quarried on Knihov Hill near Zdice, about 10 kilometres, as the crow flies, from the centre of Beroun. Research further included the localisation of other quarries providing stone for the repairs of town fortification based on early 16th-century accounts.
