Památky středních Čech 2023, 37(2):1-22 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2023.2.01

The article focuses on a closer understanding and evaluation of a presbytery that remained in the Central Bohemian Church of St Mark in Markovice near ®leby (Kutná Hora District). The ground floor is made of stone, while the bell-chair is made of wood. Based on the dendrochronological analysis, the tower was erected in the late 1660s. Attention focuses primarily on the construction of the second floor walls and the roof frame. The medieval door, used secondarily for the ground floor entrance, deserves closer inspection as well. The bell in the tower dates back to 1560.

Památky středních Čech 2023, 37(2):45-53 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2023.2.04

The article on the theory of quarry marks in the European context is divided into two parts. The practical part reinterprets the collection of mason's marks in the form of a schematised double-sided mason's axe, as detected on the portals of the Beroun town gates that are generally understood as marks of personal accounting character. It seeks to evidence the origin of the examined marks, regarding them as functional marks originating in the quarry. The theoretical part gathers the basic research statements, the theme of the quarry marks, and the level of processing the building stones across geographical and time borders in order to embed the Beroun...
