The Kentucky Coffee Tree on the Premises of the Evangelical Congregation in Lysá nad Labem or the History of a Tree in the Urban Conservation Area

Stanislav Svoboda

Using the example of the memorial Kentucky coffee tree, located on the grounds of the Evangelical Congregation in Lysá nad Labem, which is recognised as a cultural monument, this short study seeks to illustrate the channels through which woody plants could be introduced and spread in the country, beyond aristocratic or industrial gardens and parks, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is particularly noteworthy that, in this case, there were three examples of the same kind and perhaps also the same age, each destined for a different place.
