The article discusses the little-known architect and builder Emil Prückner, especially his education and building activities at the turn of the 20th century, highlighting his work in Lysá nad Labem. New information came especially from studying the archival materials at the Lysá nad Labem department of the Nymburk State Regional Archive. In addition to linking Emil Prückner with concrete buildings in Lysá nad Labem, the study of documents offered an invaluable insight into the building practice and its inner culture in the context of the Austro-Hungarian official authorities. The documents further outlined the business ethics or period practice in granting architectural concessions.
