On the Identification of the Medieval Heart of Dobřejovice Castle
The article focuses on new findings from the building history survey of the previously unexplored castle in Dobřejovice (Prague-East District). The core of the current low-key, austere, and primarily Baroque four-wing structure is a Gothic water fortress with a nearly square ground floor. Relatively small, yet evidential remains of a medieval structure were identified, allowing for an approximate reconstruction of the residence. The primary contribution of the article is its focus on a hitherto unknown fortress, which broadens our awareness of the dense network of medieval feudal seats in Prague’s vicinity.
