On the Little-Known Examples of Early Gothic Chiselled Vegetable Décor in Kutná Hora District in the 13th Century

Pavel Kroupa

The article analyses the Early Gothic chiselled vegetal décor on the portals of the Church of St Bartholomew in Okřesaneč and the Church of Sts Peter and Paul in Slavošov in the Kutná Hora District. According to the analysis of the Okřesaneč church portal décor, it was created by the workshop of the Church of St Bartholomew in Kolín nad Labem. It features a naturalist type of vegetal décor from the late second half of the 13th century. The vegetal décor of the Slavošov portal is seriously damaged. With some degree of probability, it can be considered a generalised type of vegetal décor from around the mid-13th century.
