A Sunken Lane as Memory
The preserved section of the series of sunken lanes in the forest north of Benešov exemplifies how tangible remains of earlier roads are maintained. It offers valuable material for identifying, naming, and critically analysing old road features in the landscape, which contribute to their heritage value – both in the traditional sense of preservation and in broader perspectives. The chosen collection of field relics serves as a practical example that sparks a discussion about the value of this heritage type and, indirectly, about how to shape its future fate.
