Reinterpretation of the Mason's Marks on the Beroun Town Gates

The article on the theory of quarry marks in the European context is divided into two parts. The practical part reinterprets the collection of mason's marks in the form of a schematised double-sided mason's axe, as detected on the portals of the Beroun town gates that are generally understood as marks of personal accounting character. It seeks to evidence the origin of the examined marks, regarding them as functional marks originating in the quarry. The theoretical part gathers the basic research statements, the theme of the quarry marks, and the level of processing the building stones across geographical and time borders in order to embed the Beroun example in foreign discourse.
