The Ševčin Mine in Příbram – Březové Hory
Contribution to the 10th Anniversary of the Designation as the National Cultural Monument
The group of mining buildings in Příbram – Březové Hory, declared the National Cultural Monument (NKP) ten years ago, is among the most remarkable technical monuments of the Central Bohemian Region. Established on the site of older mining works in 1813, the former Ševčin Mine holds a special position within the group. Most of its structures, rightfully attracting attention (the mine building, the engine room, the pithead room) date from the turn of the 1870s and 1880s. The Ševčin Mine has become the centre of the gradually developing Příbram Mining Museum. The paper presents the architectural, technical, and conservation values of the compound in the background of the history of the Březové Hory mine district.
