Památky středních Čech 2022, 36(2):1-12 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2022.2.01
The article presents the results of a geodetic and topographic survey of the deserted medieval village Horní Lhotka near Malotice (Central Bohemia, Kolín District) including the analysis of its settlement and historic contexts. The built-up area and the village environment became overgrown with forest that helped to preserve the terrain remains of houses and ploughed areas. The discovered relics enable one to reconstruct the form of the settlement, the arrangement of the farmsteads, and in some cases even their interior layouts. The ploughed areas were successfully identified and typologically classified based on the light detection and ranging (LiDAR)...

Památky středních Čech 2022, 36(2):13-36 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2022.2.02
The Church of Saint James the Greater in Želenice, Slaný Region, has been one of the famous Romanesque churches in Central Bohemia for quite a long time. Its overall reconstruction in 2013 cleared the way for a deeper examination. The remaining great portion of the Romanesque nave with walls made of sandstone ashlar rows alternating with layers of small marlstone ashlars is differentiated from other Romanesque churches because of a supernormal elongated ground plan and façade proportions with rather odd window openings. The further building stages of the church are also rather remarkable - first, the presbytery without corner buttresses that is closed...

Památky středních Čech 2022, 36(2):37-49 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2022.2.03
The article deals with three medieval fortifications situated southwest of Čáslav (Kutná Hora District). Fortified seats engulfed by forests are easily identified in the landscape through the well-marked relics of the perimeter fortification walls. The purpose and dating of the localities follow their description. Detailed situation plans of the sites are included. Two of the fortifications can be interpreted as incomplete smaller castles. The third locality is a typical example of a fortified manor of the lower nobility.

Alena Nachtmannová
Památky středních Čech 2022, 36(2):50-64 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2022.2.04
The Sedlec Monastery was founded in the 1140s. Its greatest expansion dates from the 14th century when it benefited from Kutná Hora wealth. During the Hussite Era, the monastery was closed and in the mid-15th century, the Cistercians began its renovation. The second expansion period dates from the late 17th and early 18th century under Abbot Snopek when the monastery was substantially rebuilt, including the monastic church. In 1783, the monastery was closed based on the decree of Emperor Joseph II. With the closure, the list of valuable movables was drawn up. It is the main subject of this study because it represents the last reminder of the monastery's...
On the Appearance of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Zdislavice in the 1680s
Jindřich Nusek
Památky středních Čech 2022, 36(2):65-70 | DOI: 10.56112/psc.2022.2.05
The study introduces two crucial building plans from the Auersperg family archives in Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv in Vienna that show the ground plan of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Zdislavice (Benešov District) in 1686 and a drawing with its western and southern wings probably from the same year. Using the plans and additional materials, the study pursues the development of the church after the fire in May 1699 when it was renovated before 1701 but the vaulted ceiling dates as late as 1839. Subsequently, the author seeks to identify in the current appearance of the church the elements of the original Early Baroque structure. The plans of...
